What I’m Really Afraid Of - Let's Talk About ADHD Burnout & Falling Behind
Does missing one day, or one difficult week, make you feel as though you have lost all your momentum? After illness interrupted my decluttering plans, my ADHD brain did not simply tell me to rest. It immediately worried that I would fall behind and slip back into the chaos I had worked so hard to leave. In this episode, I’m talking honestly about the fear underneath that reaction: the fear that if I stop, I may never get going again. I share what life felt like before I understood my ADHD brain, why I spent years labelling myself as lazy and flaky, and how that history can make rest feel frightening rather than restorative. We’ll explore why a difficult week does not erase years of progress, how the fear of falling behind can contribute to burnout and why a supportive system should help you return instead of punishing you for struggling. You do not need to catch up on everything before you are allowed to begin again. Sometimes the next kind, useful step is enough.
